‘Celebrating the Past – Building the Future’
On Sunday, February 24, 2013, members and friends of the Metro West Builders gathred at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church in Edina for a banquet and program celebrating 125 years of mission and ministry in the western Twin Cities area.
The evening began with a power-point which included photos of the first church built with the help of the Builders in 1888. Minnehaha United Methodist Church received $1000 to build a church building on 2 donated lots. The evening ended as we presented Walker United Methodist Church a check for $26,062, funds received from the 2012 Fall Call, to support the rebuilding of their church, destroyed by fire.
Bishop Bruce Ough of the Minnesota-Dakotas area was the key note speaker. In his message, “What Do These Stones Mean To You?”, he reminded us of the important work of building new congregations, both in ancient times and today. The Walker Singers provided the music, and we affirmed God’s presence in all of our mission and ministry as we sang together, “O God our help in ages past, our hope for years to come.”
